I enjoy teaching hands-on metadata workshops as an Adjunct Assistant Professor for the Department of Information and Library Science at Indiana University, Bloomington. My courses focus on the context for metadata management. I ask students to elevate their work beyond metadata creation in order to consider metadata strategy.

I bring a decade of experience in cataloging and metadata creation to these workshops. I insist on small class sizes (15 students) so that I can provide thorough feedback on assignments. As a hiring manager, I want students to leave my class not just with knowledge of how to apply schema elements but with work that may be added to their portfolios. Class projects blend metadata standards application with soft skills, such as project management and documentation writing.
